Goalball in Halifax 2018-19 Season Schedule

Blind Sports NS hosts competitive & recreational goalball programs for all ages and skill levels throughout Nova Scotia. Qualified coaches & volunteers make these programs possible.

Recreational Mixed -Saturdays, beginning September 15th until April, 2018, at the George Dixon Centre in Halifax (2502 Brunswick St.). 3:30 to 5 p.m. Recreational goalball is for men & women of all ages and experience levels! Junior Goalball -Saturdays, beginning September 15th until April, 2018, at the George Dixon Centre in Halifax (2502 Brunswick St.). 2:00 to 3:30 p.m. Want to check it out or want more info? Email us at info@blindsportsnovascotia.ca.

Senior Men’s -Sundays, beginning September 16th until April, 2018, at the George Dixon Centre in Halifax (2502 Brunswick St.). 3 to 5 p.m. This weekly goalball practice is for those interested in competing with the provincial men’s team. Dragon Boating Summer 2018 Schedule Now Available

The Dartmouth Dragon Boat Association offers dragon boat sessions for participants with vision loss.

It’s a great opportunity to  get out on the water for fun and fitness.

These dragon boat sessions generally take place from June to September each year at Graham’s Grove Park, Prince Albert Rd. in Dartmouth.

Halifax Bike Week 2018

It’s Bike Week in Halifax (and Regional Municipality)!! Our Tandem Bike Club is excited to be hosting 2 group rides in honour of Bike week 2018:

  • Sunday, June 3rd 10:45 to about 1 pm, Halifax to Tantallon Timmie’s run on the Chain of Lakes & BLT trails.
  • Saturday, June 9th 10:30 to about 3 pm, Halifax to the Train Station Bike and Bean, which we can’t get enough of! This ride is for more experienced cyclists.
    Meet at the St Andrews Centre on Barnstead lane in Halifax.

All our tandems are booked for our group rides on the 3rd & 9th, but we’d love you to join us on your own bike or borrow one of our tandems to attend the many of the official events, listed at this link. There are freebies just for participating, too.

At the junior level, the boys on their second consecutive silver and Nova Scotia's mixed recreational team won its second consecutive gold at the Eastern Canadian championship.

2 NS Athletes Named March Cleve’s Source for Sports Athletes of the Month

Congratulations, Jennifer and John!! We’re incredibly proud of you both for being named Cleve’s Source for Sports Athletes of the Month in March!!

“Jennifer MacNeil-Noble, 31, of Halifax has been named the Cleve’s Source for Sports Female Team Athlete of the Month. MacNeil-Noble and the Nova Scotia Ship Recs mixed goalball team clinched a gold medal at the 2018 Eastern Canadian Goalball Tournament in Brantford, ON. In addition to netting 11 goals throughout the tournament, MacNeil-Noble provided strong defensive play by making crucial saves for her team.

Also a member of the Nova Scotia Ship Recs, the Cleve’s Source for Sports Male Team Athlete of the Month is John Courtney. The forty-one year-old from Halifax was a key player netting a personal best 11 goals throughout the 2018 Eastern Canadian Goalball Tournament. This included the game winning goal in a 5-4 victory over Kingston in the gold medal game.”
